It "remembers" the last three readings, so you don't have to. It shuts itself OFF after 5 minutes to save power. More LCD display flips up to a comfortable reading angle. FEATURES: 0 - 32,000 rpm operating range readout is highly visible in large 1/2" (13mm), 5-digit LCD display. Measures rpm for peak engine performance up to 12" (305mm) from the propeller, and still gets readings accurate to the nearest 10 rpm. One-button operation to select among 2-, 3-, and 4-bladed props with prop selection indicator on left side of the display. Powered by one standard 9V alkaline battery (not included).

NOTE: You need to use the tach as with all digital optical tachs outside with sunlight. Because of its sensitivity, this does not know whether it is looking at a propeller or an incandescent or fluorescent light, which typically strobes at 60 cycles per second or 3600 cycles per minute. When set for 2-blades it will read 360 or 3600, 3-blades: 240 or 2400 and 4-blades: 180 or 1800. This is a quick way to test the calibration. In direct sunlight this will read zero when turned ON.
